Brenda is a dedicated Family Nurse Practitioner and an invaluable member of HART’s volunteer medical team. She has participated in three of HART’s medical mission trips, and her passion shines through her role in the pediatric clinic, which she describes as both a “true challenge and a great joy.”
Brenda first heard about HART from her boss and HART board member, Dr. Tristan Guevara. After hearing his story and seeing pictures from a mission trip he had attended, Brenda felt a strong calling to get involved. She says her first trip was nothing short of “transformative,” a word she uses to capture the profound impact it had on her life. It was the deep connections she made—with her fellow team members, the patients, and most importantly, with Jesus—that truly transformed her. She reflects, “In the USA, we often take so much for granted. Access to clean water and food is a privilege. As I raise my young children, serving with HART helps me keep my heart focused on what truly matters.”
For Brenda, the greatest gift of these trips is the opportunity to share the love of Jesus with the children and families HART serves. She believes that the spiritual aspect of HART’s work is integral, both for the communities they serve and for the volunteers who participate.
Growing up on a dairy farm in a rural community, Brenda was raised by a farmer and a nurse—both of whom instilled in her the values of hard work, compassion, and service. She cherishes her heritage and feels deeply grateful for the opportunity to travel on medical missions, using the skills and gifts God has given her to make a difference.
Brenda stands out as a unique volunteer at HART, not only for her dedication but also because donations are made in her name throughout the year by her proud family and friends. Their continued support reflects the deep impact Brenda has, both in her service and in inspiring others to contribute to the mission of HART. Some of the heartfelt messages say, “Supporting Brenda” and “We’ve enjoyed hearing of your success through Brenda Bierenga. Thank you for all the work you do. Please keep up this amazing mission.”
Brenda, HART is so grateful to have you on our team.
We love you!
