HART’s Hero for the month of January …
Dr. Lisa Manz-Dulac...
Dr. Manz-Dulac was introduced to HART in 2014 when she attended a Christmas concert and presentation at St. Paul Parish highlighting HART’s work and the rebuilding of St. Jude Parish after the earthquake in Haiti. Deeply moved by the mission and inspired after meeting Dr. Tom Graves, who invited Lisa and her son TJ to join the 2015 mission trip, Lisa felt called to get involved.
Since that first trip, Dr. Manz-Dulac has participated in five mission trips to Haiti. Two of her sons, TJ and Dominic, have joined her on these trips, both together and separately. In 2015, Dr. Manz-Dulac was also invited to join HART’s Board of Directors. She graciously and selflessly accepted, devoting time and energy from her already busy schedule. Dr. Manz-Dulac faithfully served on HART’s board for nine years, from 2015 through 2024.
Dr. Manz-Dulac helped HART establish the concept of subspecialty care on HART’s mission trips. She brought the highest quality dermatology care to people of all ages suffering from conditions we rarely if ever encounter here in America. Among these, she treated chikungunya, encrusted scabies, life threatening abscesses, and severe infections and burns. Everyday Dr. Manz-Dulac modeled the height of competence, compassion, and grace as she faced difficult medical challenges. She was always a favorite among the students.
Reflecting on her experiences in Haiti, Dr. Manz-Dulac shares how humbling it is to witness the deep joy and faith of the Haitian people despite their having so little materially. She speaks of how connected they are to Jesus and how their love and joy put into perspective how blessed we are. Being able to serve people in such great need has been one of the most meaningful and transformative experiences of her life.
Dr. Manz-Dulac is profoundly grateful for her connection to HART, noting that its members are incredibly generous with their time and talents. She says they truly live and breathe the mission, and the love, care, integrity, and dedication they pour into the work, whether present in Haiti or supporting from afar, is nothing short of phenomenal.
In July of 1996, Dr. Manz-Dulac founded Eastside Dermatology. She is incredibly grateful for the blessing of being able to help others through her practice, and grateful that Eastside Dermatology has had the opportunity to sponsor several of HART's mission trips and fundraising events.
Outside of her family, work, and volunteer service, Dr. Manz-Dulac’s true passion is running. She began running in college and completed her first marathon in September 2018 at the age of 58, after only six weeks of training. Remarkably, she qualified for the Boston Marathon during that very first race. To date, Dr. Manz-Dulac has run nine marathons, including five of the World Marathon Majors: Boston, New York, Chicago, Berlin, and London. On March 1, 2026, she will complete in her 10th marathon and the final World Major when she runs the Tokyo Marathon.
Godspeed, Dr. Manz-Dulac!
We love you, and we thank you for your dedication, commitment, and sponsorship to HART over the last 10 years!
