The Staff of The HART of Jesus Medical Clinic
This month, we honor the incredible team at The HART of Jesus Medical Clinic as our Hart Heroes of May. Their dedication, resilience, and compassion are nothing short of extraordinary.
The clinic staff--Dr. Pierre, Nurse Virginia, Midwife Olivia, Patrick, and Alexis (triage and security)—endure a three-hour commute to serve patients on a remote area of the mountain where the clinic is located at St Jude Parish. Their journey begins with a one-hour car ride, followed by 15–20 minutes on a motorcycle, and concludes with a 1 hour and 45–50 minute hike on foot, as the roads become too rugged and unpaved for any vehicle. Imagine walking nearly two hours every day just to reach your workplace!
Once they arrive, the team cares for around 60 patients a day, treating a wide range of conditions--from childbirth and cancer, to malaria, hypertension, infections, colds, and even catheter changes. Their work is not only physically demanding, but also emotionally and spiritually rich.
These selfless individuals are the only healthcare providers available within a three-hour radius. Their commitment and dedication is a powerful example of love in action.
